because he was NOT a Jew. All prophets come from one of the 12 tribes of Israel. Isaac is a prophet because he came from Abraham who was considered the first Jew because he was related to Jacob and the promise land was given to Abraham and Isaac. The Bible also does NOT recognize ishmael as a prophet only Isaac and descendents from his line are considered a prophet in the Bible because he comes from Sarah NOT the slave woman Hagar.
